I suggest with an 18v saw and cheap blades that job would be all but impossible. Change the scenario slightly what if it was white oak and you had to do the same job. With my saw and a good blade I reckon it would saw as fast as I can shuffle and use maybe 4-5 blades. Usually the bottoms of skirtings are thinner because they have a dual moulding so I would class that as little chance of nail contact and would use a good blade sawing at 25-30 degrees to the wall. Products reviewed by the trade and home improvers. If I was cutting Paulie's living room I would use my corded Fein and a 30 mm Japanese pattern blade. Fein Multimaster MM 700 Max Top 450W Electric Multi-tool 110V (256RH) compare. I've still sourced some disposables but if i know I'm cutting wood with little chance of metal =quality blade. Buying better quality blades was forced on me but I now think they are better full stop. Perhaps my prejudices with my buzz come from accidentally buying a starlock Fein 18months ago and cursing the fact I couldn't use my stock of cheap blades. Yes ok as a disposable object but incomparable for real sawing. They are in a perpetual state of binding. and will it truly be "the final solution?.Having sharpened and set handsaws for twenty years hard point saws don't have enough set. (as crank-shaft in the engines)ĭepth stop (having a smirk, due to impending trademark war) readily available on Porter Cable and now seems available as (different "extra" option) on Fein, would make it more suitable as perfect tool, but costs put me back in to conundrum on what compromise I should make and can I justify impending costs, when old systems end up being 1/3 of a cost vs new ones ( lets say extra 1/3 performance)?. Wattage- power is also big deal, however few engineering advances (as expected from Fein) compensate it nicely in having better performance, lesser vibrations, lesser noise, by increasing counterbalance of the blade motion. 2 need for better fitting for bigger load applications, what I've noticed. Pricing, performance, fitting types has been looking in to me, that I have missing out on:Īpart from normal StarLock, the other two S.+ and S.Max, got invented by 1- greed of trademarks and. (self induced headache), eased up by the fact of being free of Makyyyta tools This is my train of thoughts as WHY, I should have gone with bigger wattage cutters, but fittings (trade mark war) put me in even more difficult position, due to the fact of (again trademark licence situation) great depth stop feature is not available to none, but only Porter Cable one.Īs usual, perhaps it is me, asking (expecting) for too much, but could it be- I have a point? change over back again, then some occasional nail gets in a way, then the trimming the edge of laminate (for expansion edge or the threshold)- oops, gone too deep and blade touched some (IE) screed. in one day I end up using several blades (door ones MUST be at least 45mm cut, before going silly and only one week blade is that long)- change over need better blade for frame and architrave ("tougher"- shorter- wider) one- great, but come to door stop- not long enough. "few rooms in a day to fit laminate floor scenario"- need to trim the edges of the floor for expansion, cut few frames, doors, architraves. We offer a range of blades & extras which are fully compatible with the market leading multi tools from manufacturers including Makita, Bosch, Fein, Dewalt. =blades burning out ever so quickly and most of them are flimsy (IE "trimming worktop back to the wall)Īlso, having no depth adapter, got me thinking as why I hardly ever used it in (short lived past): Keep ideas coming guys, will get one order one tomorrow, as today past water shed timeĬlick to expand.really want to, but, I never been too happy with my old cutter: Our selection includes top-quality brands and models that offer various speed settings, blade options, and accessories for optimal flexibility and precision. Starlock & Starlock Plus Quick-Release Blade Change. Whether you're working on a home renovation project or need a tool for your DIY hobbies, an oscillating multi-tool is a must-have in your toolbox. Or to go silly with power in the gain of quality? Powerful multi-tool for rapid progress in interior work and renovations. Or the same (stupi- music, speakers off ) should suffice, perhaps.Īlthough £120 would get what seems to be "covering all areas" 400W. My old M*** was 300 and if ever needed to trim any wood, felt a tad gutless, hence I'm looking for the 400WĪlthough for a £83.
